Final Project Proposal

I have decided to do a (possibly) animated story for my final project. Most of you all are thinking “Animating takes a long time, why chose that?” or “That’s dumb. Why pick something that’s hard instead of typing it out?” well, still, majority of you all are thinking it exactly or somewhat related to that. First of all, I enjoy animating, taking much time into it whenever I receive my tablet. Working at it on Scratch or by hand on Windows Movie Maker (either is fine, but I prefer Movie Maker for huge files, Scratch for small simplex projects, but may require download for it to work). Also, I can apply all of my talents onto this project, my drawing abilities, voice acting (if possible) and imaginative skills. I am very vivid when it comes to location of a story and/or movie. Sometimes go a bit overboard if my imaginings are out of whack or erratic. I develop these skills through literature, watching anime and/or cartoons (drama consistent), and possibly through someone else’s perspective. But it is mostly through books as lengthy as “Call of the Wild” to “Eragon”, movies as long as “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” and through report stories online that is based on truth or through my parents’ experiences. I chose animated simply it’s my dream to animate something. Not exactly famous or something that everyone would like but it appeals to some people and they could relate to some part in their life. Drama mostly consist of that and that is what I intended to do on my animated clip. I study behaviors through someone else’s body language, which gives me a sense on how are they feeling in that type of situation at that time and place.

Reflecting on Feedback

The current feedback I had on my draft was…at least above pass worthy, a B-. My story is different, sure but that isn’t the whole point here. It was over the page limit of four; instead, I did six pages (truly sorry, I couldn’t stop at page four. It seems too brief for me.). I didn’t state what the monster (Extinction, the Hawk) actually did to cause them trouble. He was only mentioned once in the story. Should have added a bit more detail with him. Locations were not so vivid, but durable. I could have put in more specifics upon a place at a time (but that will mean the story will have to be much longer than it is currently). Finally, it is clear that the farmer (who wishes to become a knight) becomes the hero, why? He defeated (or slain, whichever first) the beast (Extinction).

Fairy Tale Proposal

A story about a squirrel slaying a beast. The beast is named Extinction so hence the extinction of the townsfolk he keeps consuming everyday. The beast is a Hawk, swift and quick. It is a story about ancient times. Times when knights and princesses existed. Dragons, castles, chapels, and such. Only exception, humans are replaced by squirrels. The beast draws townfolk into exinction by either famine or eating them himself. I though it was a big deal with some of the animals that are lacking in population. Which is why I didn’t choose humans in this story, it would be too common.

Relfecting on my First Draft of my Short-Short Story

My first draft went okay. I mostly wanted people to know what was setting at firsthand, describing characters along the way. I would do a story about with people, but that isn’t my writing style. I’m more of a person that is biased my stories from an animals’ perspective. Most people don’t pay attention to animals as much as I do.

-Well, the majority of people that is.

Mainly I write stories about wolves and/or other animals. Since wolves are my current favorite, I do stories based on them. Now, the setting on my first draft was…moderate. It felt like something was missing. Perhaps better choice of words should do it. Character description was a bit…off…to me.

My Goals for this Class

Though what I am really aiming for is to become a better artist, I’m still curious about the whole writing aspect as well. I’m very passionate about animals, but I don’t want people to disapprove them. They should be more open and compassionate towards a few in the least; which is why my stories consist of animals. Nowadays, no one pays attention to them as much as the over-used topics and ideas such as vampires and werewolves as shown in ‘Twilight’ and ‘The Wolf man’.
